The whole luxury lifestyle aesthetic is taking the internet by storm(as a fellow “soft girl” advocate we love to see it) but why should we have to break our banks to achieve this lifestyle for ourselves? As a student who works a part-time job, being on a budget is always my main concern but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to enjoy certain luxuries.
So, I created the perfect list for you to enjoy your own luxury lifestyle without crying when seeing your bank statement.

INTRO:
Hello, my loves! Welcome or welcome back to my blog, it’s so lovely to have you here. Today I’ll be explaining to you all how I’m able to live a “luxury” lifestyle on a budget as a student and how you can too!
I know what it’s like to be scrolling through TikTok or Pinterest and seeing all of these “luxury aesthetic” posts or influencers who scream luxury and thinking to yourself “How in the world could I even afford that?” but trust me there is a way to still live a “luxury lifestyle” without upsetting your bank account or taking out a loan (like have y’all seen inflation???)
What does luxury mean to you?
Okay before we can even get into the tips, let’s start by identifying what luxury means to you. For example, according to the urban dictionary “luxury is a state of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense.”
You notice how it says “especially” not “only”. This means that you can achieve this “comfort” and “elegance” without spending a lot.
I would say to me that luxury is being able to enjoy quality, comfortable and blissful things/ services that improve one’s life.
So, I would recommend that you take the time to figure out what luxury is to you.
Luxury doesn’t have to be shopping in Chanel like it’s AliExpress or being able to travel to the Bahamas every week. It can be as simple as buying your favorite flowers once a month.
Having a routine in your life and making it luxurious for you.
Now, in my opinion, everyone on this planet should have a routine in one way or the other. What you shouldn’t do is walk up 10 minutes before you need to leave for work and run around like a chicken with no head trying to get yourself out the door in time.
That is not a morning routine that is morning MADNESS.
Remember when we discussed what luxury means to us? If comfortability or ease fits your definition, then having a routine is very beneficial.
Yes, it does mean you’ll have to get up earlier before the kids or when class begins to enjoy your shower or even your coffee in peace (which is a luxury by the way) but it means you are actually ENJOYING it.
In terms of making it luxurious for yourself, try wearing a silk robe when you get out of the shower or doing a mask once a week while making dinner in pretty nightwear. It really is those slight changes that will impact your days the most.
This doesn’t just apply to morning and your night time but also in terms of self-care maintenance. This can range from your shower time to when you go get your nails done. Having a routine builds structure in your life and once you do it so much it becomes a habit, so you won’t even think about it anymore. You’ll just do it.
Health is luxury
Fun fact: I’ve been on a weight loss journey since august! Trust me when I say it’s been a JOURNEY but it has completely changed my outlook on health and fitness. And I have realized that taking care of your body and mind is a true luxury.
Things like going for a daily stroll with the dogs or fitting in the gym 3 or 4 times a week or even reading a book once a month can make such a difference in your health mentally and physically and how you look at yourself.
Quick question, should I start posting fitness content relating to my weight loss journey?
Go to nice places/events that feel like a luxury
This is sometimes that I actually just learned about recently but start going to nice events or restaurants etc. sometimes we can put these places off because we think we are not “rich enough” or even worthy enough but I disagree. (if you’re able) Try going to that café that screams luxury and order a coffee.
Don’t feel obliged to order the whole menu if that’s not in your budget. We’re not kylie Jenner but even just a coffee or a cake can have the same effect.
You can look up the menu a day or week before to see what time you should go or what you can afford and enjoy yourself.
Another thing is going to events in your area. Things like open art galleries or wine tasting are great options if that’s what you are into.
It’s also a great place to find people with similar interests to yourself. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
Some may call it “faking it till you make It” but over here we call it manifesting.
Level up your space.
This might feel irrelevant but just give it a chance because it really helped me.
2 years ago, I decided to completely revamp my room to my taste/style since I was starting university at the time I thought it was the right step and it definitely was.
Think about how much time you spend in your room, office, or kitchen a day. Yet you dislike the way it looks. It doesn’t make sense right? Even if it’s just little things like changing certain silverware or putting up paintings and pictures, the overall change will be significant.
You might have to do some studying on Pinterest to see what kind of vibes you want for your space but don’t undermine this part.
For me, changing the paint color and re-arranging my space made all the difference and I love my room and want to be in it all the time.
Look the part, it helps!
Now, THIS is where I shine! I freaking love fashion, it’s no secret so I know first-hand how dressing a certain way can make you feel. I truly believe that fixing my style to cater to the message I want to put out can make such a difference in making me feel luxurious.
For me, adding more simple pieces to my wardrobe and buying more jewelry that are simple yet stunning has completely changed my look.
I wanted my style to be more minimalistic yet clean and put together. I also wanted to make sure that I was buying clothes that really fit me properly. Being tall is a struggle sometimes and I don’t want my shorts fitting like underwear on me. So take the time to evaluate your style
You can shop in Gucci as much as you want but if you have no sense of style it will just look cheap and forced.
On the other hand, if have a great sense of style but shop at Shien or Prettylittlething you can still feel well put together or luxurious.
We all have to start somewhere.
P.S stop telling yourself that when you get to a certain size or bank figure you will start dressing a certain way. You’ll never get there because you will always come up with another goal that you’ll want first. Live for today. YOU’RE ENOUGH RIGHT NOW!
Girl, you better DIY
One thing I have learned in the era of “Instagram business” and being broke in university is YOU BETTER LEARN IT YOURSELF.
Things like learning how to do my own nails and hair have saved me so much money but I still look and feel like a luxury.
It doesn’t even have to be in terms of self-care it can also be décor or food. Knowing how to cook at university has changed my life or making my own art pieces for my room has saved me so much money.
That being said, don’t feel like you have to learn everything yourself. If you just can’t do it or just enjoy the service that you are being provided with then by all means do your thing girl. Maybe try doing your own blowout or quick weave at home but still get your nails done at your favorite salon. It is all about balance.
Know how to be financially responsible.
Because you have decided to look up this post already puts you in the green check but being financially responsible is more about knowing when and when not to splurge.
Some things in life just require a higher price tag and that’s okay but we need to make sure that it is worth the price tag. Do we really need this item or service in our life? Is there any cheaper alternative?
These are all questions we need to ask ourselves before purchasing an expensive item.
I’m not here to shame you or question your spending habits but just think twice (maybe even 4 times) before swiping your card.
At the end of the day, It’s mindset honey.
To conclude our list, if your mind is not in it then you can’t win it. Luxury can also just be a mindset in the end.
If you believe that you give off luxury energy, then you do. Being negative or thinking “I’m too broke for this” or “I can’t ever achieve this lifestyle” will get you absolutely nowhere so switch it to “one day surely” or “I can’t wait till I can live like this”.

CONCLUSION:
To finish off this post, I think I will forever be obsessed with the idea of luxury or elegance but I will never agree with hurting your pockets to achieve this.
The whole point of luxury is comfortability. You shouldn’t have to be a billionaire or marry one to achieve luxury in your life.
I’ll leave you with this:
Question of the post: What little things could you add to your day to make it more luxurious?
